Creators will make amazing moments in this space. Audiences will enjoy them, some being inspired to create something themselves.

I’ve urged Kathleen, the Next New Networks team, and YouTube Next Lab to fully appreciate the moment in media history represented by the opening of this space.

This space is impressive from the practical standpoint of how it will support the creative community. But, when viewed with an appropriately wider perspective, the symbolic statements this space makes about the future of media and those who shape it, could be what impresses us the most.

That was the first day I posted a video on Youtube. And it started a grand adventure that involved many of my friends. We made a show on YouTube. Then we made another show on YouTube. Then I worked for a start up making more shows- good, bad, and everything in between. Then that company got bought by YouTube and I thought to myself- what am I going to do?

I talked to Fred. Then I talked to Erik. Then I asked Liam and Lance how to make it happen. We asked ourselves- what did we need in 2005? What do we need now? How do we make our shows, videos, vlogs even more awesome? Then we started drawing on a whiteboard. And now 15 months later that whiteboard is a reality.

And all I can think about is that day- May 24, 2006 and all the people that helped me get to this place. So here in my little corner of the Internet I am going to thank them. Without my talented friends working with me over the years I would not be opening this awesome space for more people like me to make awesome channels on YouTube. I learned everything I know from these people.
